I began writing poetry January 17, 2008. Writing is something that “comes” to me. Whether the words are about inn-keeping, family, tea time, the Lord or relationships, they all have rhythm, rhyme or both. My sister said, “Dr. Seuss lives in your head.” Ah! It is true that I love his stories for their creative rhythm and rhyme. I have published some of the poetry on hand-made note cards. Others on framed prints. I sell them at craft shows or in small businesses. I will periodically post a new one here for you to enjoy. ~ Blessings, Rebecca **Poetry may not be reproduced without the express written permission of the author.** Roasted Spicy Plums |
Your head hits the pillow.
You turn out the light. You think in your mind, “Something is not quite right.” You go through the list That once was your day Trying to recall What might be array? The Guests all checked in. The bills are all paid. The laundry is done. The table is laid. You think and you ponder As you drift off to sleep “I’ll fix it tomorrow. Whatever it is will keep.” You awake and you wonder As it pops in your head “Guest number two wanted a crib bed.” With great trepidation, You creep down the stairs And meet the young mother With frazzled hair. With humble apologies You make it all right With steaming strong coffee And Chocolate Lovers Delight! “What You Forgot” © 2008 Rebecca Ruth Whisnant |
