I began writing poetry January 17, 2008. Writing is something that “comes” to me. Whether the words are about inn-keeping, family, tea time, the Lord or relationships, they all have rhythm, rhyme or both. My sister said, “Dr. Seuss lives in your head.” Ah! It is true that I love his stories for their creative rhythm and rhyme. I have published some of the poetry on hand-made note cards. Others on framed prints. I sell them at craft shows or in small businesses. I will periodically post a new one here for you to enjoy. ~ Blessings, Rebecca **Poetry may not be reproduced without the express written permission of the author.** Coconut Crusted Chilled Banana |
"Ants in the Kitchen"
I arrive in the kitchen
At half past six Little did I know That something was amiss An army had moved in They marched all about Covering my counter Going in and out Of all the days to happen Of course it would be When Guests wanted breakfast “Early” don’t you see I grabbed up the cleaner And squirted them all down Mopping them right up Wiping all around The counters now clean It’s off to the races I double dare any ants To now show their faces! I cook it up quick The guests now come in I set it in front of them With a grin They never will know What it took on this day To give then such A beautiful array! “Ants in the Kitchen” © 2008 Rebecca Ruth Whisnant |
