![]() The 23rd Annual Sea Witch Festival in Rehoboth was in full swing today. A few vendors may have been frightened off by Hurricane Sandy's threats but not our guests! At the Canalside Inn we have a full house and bookings already being made for next year. The Festival is full of things to do from broom tossing to scarecrow stuffing to skim board competitions to parades and costume contests. Restaurants take their own twist on foods with eats such as Mummy dogs and bloody fingers. So pack up your pet and Book your reservationcome on over!

For me, this tool varies depending on whether I am at home cooking for myself or at a B&B cooking for others. Several of my B&B's make cookies for their guests on a daily or almost daily basis. After pinching off yet another batch of cookies by hand, I decided it was time to buy my own to "take with me when I go". For those of you still pinching off or rolling those cookies by hand...or even using spoons and trying to make them even in size...It is time to buy a scoop! :) ![]() Looking for a place in the sun?? A place by the beach without beachfront pricing?? Well, head on down to Vero Beach, Florida! Home of Sea Spray Inn For those of you looking to save another dollar, each of the 17 rooms comes equipped with a full kitchen. Or If you do not wish to cook, there are a couple of restaurants within walking distance and many, many more less than a mile away. For those of you who must take Fido whereever you go, they have pet friendly rooms on the lower level. ![]() This week in Montgomery is the three-day Alabama Bar Exam. My guests have been busy studying, testing and talking it out. They have even been spotted "Nerding-it-up" (their words) in the Gazebo in the back yard of Red Bluff Cottage Bed & Breakfast. Good luck Guys! ![]() Today, thanks to my 2012 Hospitality Training Pass from the Chattanooga Convention Visitors Bureau, my sister and I took a free tour of Ruby Falls. Our guide, ANDY, did a hilarious job guiding us through the cavern to the grand Falls. After all these years of making jokes about "Ruby falling" when we passed the signs on the highway, we now know that the falls were actually named after a woman named Ruby. I still don't know if she "fell" or not, but I can tell you from experience, that she would have been pretty bruised up after she crawled out of that cavern! We were thankful for the larger passageways carved out now to allow a small crowd. Ruby Falls are also known for their Haunted Cavern Tours, which are not for the faint of heart, (like me!) and their Lantern Tours, which are as spooky as I care to go! So, whether you take the Regular Tour, the Lantern Tour or the Haunted Cavern Tour, go enjoy Ruby Falls...there is plenty for everyone...and...be sure to ask for Andy! ![]() Let this little plant be a reminder to us all to... "Bloom where we are planted." "Make the most of where we are." "Radiate beauty even in the worst of circumstances." "Be all that we can be for the glory of our Creator." (found in the curb outside of Bluff View Inn) ![]() When people talk about making "Eggs Benedict", they usually talk about difficulty. Listening to this through the years, I developed a sort of "Benedictaphobia" and avoided making Eggs Benedict at all cost. Imagine my surprise, when Stonehurst Place Assistant Innkeeper, Sarah, told me "Eggs Benedict is easy". I decided to put her to the test and had her "Bring it on!" She came in early on Mother's Day and walked me though each step. Served with a side of roasted potatoes and steamed Asparagus, they were delicious! The Hollandaise Sauce was perfect! Thank you, Sarah! ![]() In August, Bluff View Inn hired me to work for them in-between my Inn-sitting contracts. Sunrise on the water has always made me smile. Here I am blessed to watch the sun rise over the Veteran's bridge and the Tennessee River as I walk down to unlock the Sculpture Gardens on Monday mornings. As a guest, you don't have to walk to the sculpture gardens to see the sunrise. Six of our guest rooms have sunrise views or you can go to the Bocce court to view the splendorous display! |
